Dropbox is a fine option for cloud-based storage and we certainly think it’s the right choice for small businesses out there. Dropbox gets credit for being the first of its kind. But today this clever software has many competitors. And as with all good business, when there’s competition, there’s the ability to shop around.
Lawyerist.com recently reviewed a few Dropbox alternatives for small and solo firms. Here’s a summary of what they had to say about three.

Option 1: SpiderOak

What You Get & What it Costs: 2 GB of storage for free, 100 GB of storage for $10/month or $100/year.

Who Should Use it: Those who want even more security than Dropbox can offer

Option 2: Cubby

What You Get & What it Costs: 5 GB of storage for free, 100 GB of storage for $4-$7/month

Who Should Use it: Those who like LogMeIn, since it’s part of the same company, those who like to share a lot of large files

Option 3: MEGA

What You Get & What it Costs: 50 GB of storage for free, 500 GB of storage for 10 Euro/month or 4 TB of storage for 30 Euro/month

Who Should Use it: Those who want end-to-end encryption. But users should know that this New Zealand-based company is run by a hacker, Kim Dotcom, who is currently up on legal charges.

As CEO of Rekall Technologies, I’ve been helping small business owners simplify their technology since 2011. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how IT becomes frustrating, time-consuming, and a constant distraction from running a business. That experience is what drove me to build Rekall differently. I didn’t want clients adjusting their businesses to fit their IT—I built services that adapt to how real businesses actually operate. My philosophy is simple: technology should be secure, stable, and effectively invisible. When IT is done right, it stays out of the way and gives you the freedom to focus on your clients, your team, and growing your business with confidence.
